About never then industries
"Faith is something that isn't exclusive to religion, something that isn't necessarily found in words, but also in acts, people, ideas," were the words that were being spoke in the midst of an idea being born. As Nick sat in the middle of religion class, doodling while others listened intently, the idea struck him. "There have always been clothes that people identified with. Either because they were skaters/surfers or a bit more flashy with their dress, and in it all the kids who were essentially about the music really had nothing to truly call their own; they kind of incorporated the surf/skate dress into their wardrobe and that type of clothing became the usual dress with the punk/emo/ska type music," says Nick. John adds, "So we essentially wanted to do something that was strictly for the kid who loved music. Didn't skate, didn't surf, but loved the music that they listened to, and wanted a type of clothing to be in tune with that." An idea was born, but like most ideas there were certain struggles along the way. First and foremost, a name. What in the world do you name a company that holds such weight? After about six or seven beers, the name Never Then was born. "It means something personal to us. I don't know if it was like this for everyone growing up but I remember asking my mom if we could do something. Such as ride the quarter ride outside the grocery store, and of course she said that we would do it later, or then. And sure enough, then really never came, and I was left wanting to do all these things that I never got to do. So Never Then means a lot, such as certain things really never come, so in sense it is never really that time, it is never then." Now that a name was taken care of there had to be an idea for a shirt. Never Then was founded on the principals of heartache and all the emotions that come sluing forth with such. Naturally incorporated was the notion of a broken heart. "We (John and Nick) are both well schooled in the area of heartache. The people that we wanted to be with wanted nothing to do with us which was shown by their choices and actions, so we put a broken heart on a shirt." Ask them though if they hold a grudge and you will receive an emphatic no. "Where we are is a consequence of where we've been is something that has been drilled into my head, but it leaves out the most important aspect of it all, where we will be." Life is about questions and those that can be answered and those that can't be. "We both can answer the questions about where we are at and where we were, but neither of us can tell you where we will be and that uncertainty is so amazing to us that we can't wait to get there." Everyone remembers their first CD, the first song that they fell in love with and memorized all the words to. Who doesn't remember their first kiss; their first real kiss with someone who you thought would heal the world. Of course, who doesn't remember the first heartache, the first time you thought that the moon itself was pushing down on your heart. We've been told that we live in moments, instances, that have an effect un-heard of on the outside world, well if that's true, all we can hope is that on some distant whim on a far away galaxy, we can learn. We can learn the answers to the questions that have plagues us for a time that is seemingly on going. "Forever is only as long as you want to make it, a mountain is only as high as you want to climb, and an ocean is only as far out as you can see. It's perception, happiness for the individual that matters, and if we can make one person happy, then maybe we already have learned." Reasons escape most of the time, why did we do that is a common question. Never Then Ind isn't about asking why we did something, but the fact that we did, and where we are is just part of that choice.
